[[Before do all that—this is my little baby YouTube Channel. If you want me to do something—let me know!]]
I’m an autumn person. The cold, the change that surrounds us, the smells in the air that don’t have sunscreen in them—I’m at my full power.
I’m a fan of winter too. I’ve always been like this—even as a kid. My parents couldn’t get me out of the house or the library in the summer. But once autumn hit, I was out the door.
My reading now shifts for a bit, a month or two. I’ll be picking up my spooky books that I hoard and getting those going. I’m putting soup in the slow-cooker. I’m wearing comfy socks. I’m turning pages this autumn—and when the first snowflake falls—I’m going to be in Brandon Sanderson’s books for awhile as well as reading The Hobbit again.
I also tend to write more—gone will be the days of popping over to someone’s house or lounging in a pool (which I have to tell you I enjoy, if and I mean if, I have a book in my hand and perhaps a drink in the other.)
I’m tooling around with a short story about a detective’s last day and what it means to be a good father. I’m tinkering with it.
I fill my little notebooks with little ideas.
I’m writing my novella and continuously wrestling with: is this a good idea, does this make sense and should I just be a gardener? But it’s starting to grow. It’s starting to morph into something I can see and I start to worry about my protagonist Jake.
I drink coffee and tea, and I read books.
So here’s to autumn. Raises glass of tea and clinks the glass with yours.
Next up—I’ll share my TBR for the next two to four months.
Recommendations.
Finished Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty and it unwound me. I know it’s not a fantasy/sc-fi read, but sometimes you just have to branch out.
The Penguin on HBO—I’m liking it more and more.
Saturday Night and The Wild Robot. I did a back to back movie deal and I loved both of these movies. I cried for different reasons. I have to say: you have to see both in the theatre. I’m not wrong about this. Please go see these movies.
Keep reading and writing, my friends.
